I was on Target website early this morning (7-31-20) looking at women's bikes. I scrolled down to the ads listing other bikes under the section "Sponsored". I went to their website and ordered a Schwinn that was on sale for $180, made my purchase and received a receipt via email. When I tried creating an account, it asked for my email address, but instead of allowing me to setup a password, it had me hit "enter", and stated I would receive a password via email, which I never received. I started getting a sinking feeling and searched for the business with ScamPulse.com and could not locate. I also did a Google search and could not find the company at first. I tried again, but none of the websites were safe, according to my Norton Security. I entered the address in Google and it was assigned to a Fedex location. Since the phone number was in pst and I'm in cst, I waiting, then went ahead and called the number at 9:04am cst / 7:04am pst. I expected to either get a busy signal or no answer. It rang a few times then a man with a heavy accent answered. I asked if I got a wrong number and if this was not a business. I believe he said yes (to the wrong number) and he then hung up. That was enough for me. So, I immediately called my credit card company to dispute the charge. Once it posts to my account, they will remove it from my account. However, I am still freaked out at the fact I entered my information in a site that was not secure and not sure where that information is going now....dark web?

I caution others to not sucumb to what happened to me. I was so focused on finding a bicycle, I did not notice that the address only had 4 digits in the zip code! That was a red flag for sure. I feel foolish. Takeaways - 1) do NOT click on ads on ANY website you visit; dangerous. They should be careful who they accept ads from as well, to protect their customers. 2) research a company BEFORE logging onto their website or making any type of transaction.
