Same scenario, wrong number but conversation started. Talked about investments and got interested in what she we doing. Invested 2000. Traded and grew to $4400. So I decided to cash out and move on. Turns out I was not an official trading partner and had to raise my account to $8000. So we continued to trade ( on Bithumb) finding out along the way that I would not be able to cash out until I hit $80K in trade transactions. so we kept trading. I invested no more principal. The account grew to $99K I had met the $80K in transactions so I initiated a withdrawal to my coinbase account only to have it intercepted and advised that I had to submit a 10% fee($9950.50) for identity validation and validating the wallet address I want my funds sent to is correct. So I to decided that I had to stop sending any more money. It is hard to lose that kind of money but I really only invested $7000. I feel fortunate it wasn't more.

I received a text message from a person who identified themselves as Shirley Lee. She stated in a text message "I just cooked some Asian food, come over and have some". I innocently responded that they contacted the wrong person. Then we started chatting via text and then finally "Telegram". After numerous chats we discussed what we liked, family, etc. Then the scam began. She stated that she was from Singapore and was an investor (Gold Market) and CEO of a company (Mothers Work) in Los Angles and lives in Beverly Hills, CA. That her Aunt provides her with information concerning investments in the Gold Market. Her Aunt is a Harvard Financial Business and worked for the Singapore government in their financial department as well as an office on Wall Street and she lives is San Francisco. The sends a link to Bithumb US and asks you to set-up an account. You will start out with a $100.00 in that account and will start investing. They will allow you to withdrawal up to 100 dollars and with the excitement of investing money and winning, your guard stops dropping. She then starts pushing you to invest more money to improve your returns on investment. When you attempt to withdrawal more funds, they require you to pay taxes, after you pay taxes, they then hit you with a threat of "Insider Trading" and want more money in fees to unlock you account and threaten to report you to the SEC. If those fees are paid, they then hit you with another fee to return your score back to 100 and then they will process your withdrawal request.

I did do research in an attempt to determine if this was or was not a scam, but I failed. After paying the taxes and first fee, is when I started to realize that this was a scam. I contacted Bithumb, which is a South Korea crypto currently exchange and provided them with the address of the Bithumb US link that she provided to me. They responded that that link has no association to them and that they also believed that it was a fraudulent website.
