A few months ago a man called from "The ScamPulse.com of California" to inform me that my computer had been hacked and used fraudulently and that Best Tech Support could fix it for $499 for a 5-yr. plan. I allowed them to charge my credit card $499, but the problems continued. They contacted me again and said they would need an add'l. $500 to try to fix the problem again. This time they wanted me to purchase $500 worth of ITunes cards and send them (or the codes) to a bank in China, which I did. That didn't fix the problem either, so they told me they needed another $1000 via ITunes card. At that point I told them I wasn't going to give them any more money. I contacted Hewlett-Packard. That IT person said they would TRY to fix my computer and that it would cost me $50. I consented, but it didn't really resolve the issues. I then contacted Office Depot IT Dept. and for $125 they were able to resolve the problems, clean the hard drive, and basically provide me with a new system.

Today I got a call from Best Tech Support saying, by law, they owe me a refund of my initial $499 and that I can access their on-line form and submit it so that they can deposit my refund in my bank acct. I told them I wouldn't give them my bank acct. information; that they should mail me the form and I would mail it back for them to send me a refund check by mail. They said the only way to redeem my refund is online. At that point I contacted the ScamPulse.com and reported this scam.

Company calls you up and says it is Dell and they have received alerts from your IP address. They ask if they can show you how your computer is compromised. They transfer you to their technical support which is Best Tech Support and they continue to show you all the malware, botnets, stopped anti-virus applications, etc. and say they can fix all of this for $199.00. When you log in the next day you have ransom ware on your PC and approximately 3000 errors and alerts, your anti-virus (McAfee) is disabled and the Citrix software for remote login is installed still. I googled the company, they showed up on line. I put the number in BBB and the company no longer exist. The credit card said it was an out of the country account that was paid.
