We were contacted by this representative from Best Rate Finance Group saying that we qualified for a loan modification mortgage program where the government will pay our current mortgage company to reduce the negative portion of our mortgage. This company said that they negotiate with our company to get a better interest rate so that our payment will be reduced. After we sent some of our personal information (our social security no.'s) but became a little suspicious of the documents that were sent to us via email. We began to have multiple questions for the guy who we were in contact with he was getting agitated and I began questioning specific things like the service cost that didn't seem accurate and having to give them the fee in the amount of $4,395.00 after $2,900.00 from a federal grant. They said we could skip our mortgage but had to make a one time initial payment or two installment payments to them for the amount. We can't believe we fell for this but are so thankful that an alarm went off.
