My daughter was moving to California from Oregon and contacted a broker called Belmont Moving and Storage in Florida. They arranged for Best Moving Van Lines to pick up her household goods and deliver them to California where she was starting a new job. Best Moving was supposed to show up on Friday but did not. They did come on Saturday but gave her a completely different bid and required that she sign a completely different contract. She became concerned that she would be liable to pay for both contracts and could not afford the combined pricing - much less the higher pricing demanded by Best Moving. We were not able to contact anyone at Belmont Moving and Storage and ended up not allowing Best Moving to take any of her home goods. We contacted Belmont Moving the following week and they refused to reimburse the substantial down payment she had made. It was fraudulent for Belmont to send a local moving company, Best Moving, who would not honor the original contract. A very bad experience with both companies. Beware of the bait and switch.
