*** ******, a former co-worker who I've known over 20 years, posted on Facebook that he made $35,000 in 3 hours mining bitcoin. Shortly after, he sent me a message asking if I knew about bitcoin. He referred me to his uncle's friend, Mark Stewart, to mentor me, via WhatsApp. Mark instructed me to buy $2000 of bitcoin in Trust Wallet via MoonPay and then send the $2000 to bestcurrencyming.com to invest. After it grew to $63,000, Mark said I needed to contact Best Currency Mining customer support to upgrade my account to withdraw my money. He told me to do the Ruby level for $2000 but I did the Gold level for $1000. Then he instructed me to withdraw all the money, which I did, which was $57,000 after 10% fee. Then Mark told me to contact customer support again to pay $4,000 to convert the bitcoin to cash before it could be deposited in my bank account. After I did that, customer support sent me an email saying I needed to pay $6,000 for "IRS tax fees" before the money could be deposited in my bank account. I have less than $600 in my account after sending $7,000 plus $56 withdrawn from my bank account for transfer fees. I filed a report case # 211206-007 with the Juneau (Alaska) Police Department. *** ****** lives in Juneau and owns the business ******** *** *****.

Started when I saw a video post on Facebook of a friend saying he invested and made a $50k profit in a day via bitcoin mining. He refers anyone interested to contact his mentor Mark Stewart (scammer) via DM. After seeing him in that video I let my scam filter down and got in touch with Mark through my friends invitation. Mark asked if I knew anything about Bitcoin, which I did. Then he goes on to explain the different ways to make money. For example invest $1000 and get $20k in 3hours. He says to send him the investment to him in Bitcoin. So I sent $2000 to an address linked to a website bestcurrencymining.com. This website shows your investment and your profit. I ignored the 1st red flag, you can't withdraw your funds until you upgrade to a "plan", which another request to send more Bitcoin with a promise of a big return. Which I did anyway sent another $5k in Bitcoin for a promise that I would get over$100k. The kicker this time is you still need a withdraw fee to get your money. That was the last straw for me, I demanded my money back, but things went downhill from there.
