I received an email which appeared to be from Best Buy/Geek Squad saying that my account would be charged for an automatic renewal of a maintenance agreement. I do not have such an agreement plan, so I call the number given on the email. the person answering the call then directed me to go to a website which he gave me to get the form I needed to cancel. This put up a red flag, so I told him would go to the local store to cancel anything that I may have had. He said the store could not cancel this warranty and it could only be done using this form. I did not log into the website he gave me. I told him I thought this was a scam, then he proceeded to give me my name, address, and phone number and my date of birth. This definitely scared me and I hung up. I did go to the local store and the supervisor agreed that it was a scam. I notified the Best Buy abuse center as directed by the service rep.
