A local spoofed number called saying they were verifying I would be home to serve me papers and to call Beryl and Associates at ###-###-#### and speak with them. Supposed Debt collection law office. Answered saying "law offices". Asked for my case number to which I gave what the other guy told me and he said that he was filing suit papers for a Capital One card that he said I stopped paying in 2004 and Capital One charged off in 2009. Said I made payments to a collection in 2014 then stopped and that is why they are filing papers. I said well then I would like you to validate the debt since this is a recorded line you have me on record, show me what you have. He said he isn't required to show anything to me. I said well sir I'm looking at my credit report from when I bought my house in 2013 and not one mention of a Capital One account, or collection account nothing, all of which would have still been on my report then. He said well sir you can pay the 2400 you owe today or the lawsuit paperwork will be served to you today and they will get a judgement for $5000 and threatened they'd garnish my wages, lien on my home, drop my credit score 150 points and such. I said well if this is such a valid debt then give me the capital one info and account number and I'll call them as to why 12 years later which by the way is outside of the Statute of Limitation in Louisiana. He gave me a number and a supposed account number. When I enter the account number it says no longer with them and transfered me to Jefferson Capital Systems. They asked name, address, phone and said that I don't have a file. Asked the account number from Capital One and they said I'm the 10th person to call and give that number today. Tried to call Beryl and associates back and surprise they won't answer my call.
