I work for a small family owed business. We sell a variety of items including outdoor poly furniture. I received an email from someone named Andrew requesting a price for 20 Poly Adirondack Beach Chairs. I responded with the types & cost of the chair they were interested in. I also advised that with an order of 20, we'd gladly offer them a 8% discount off the total. He responded that he wanted to order from the company he purchased in the pass, he had a chair from them and was familiar with that brand. He ask that I figure out the total cost of the 20 chairs with the discount so he could call me and have the payment made. I responded with the total cost including discount. The next email from him is what sent up the red flag for me. He wanted the chairs shipped to Bentley Experts Inc 32 Eastern Main St. San Juan, Trinidad WI. He also recommended a shipping company for me to contact and get the cost for the shipping to Trinidad: Inter Freight Shippers, contact James Benson with email address of [email protected] phone 801-739-9262 so I could include the shipping cost in my total and he would call in to authorize me to bill his master card or visa card for full payment. Since my suspensions were in high alert, I spoke with my boss and we decided to tell them the vendor had a back order until the new year. I emailed him that response and then my work phone rang, it was "Andrew"- he wanted the other vendor to fill the order since we use 2. I told him I would check into their time line for products. I emailed him this morning and told him we declined to fill this order as we believe its a scam. I did do research on line and others have received the exact same emails word for word except the product they want is different. They are using stolen credit cards and by time the person realizes they card has been used it could be 30 days by that time the product has been shipped so the business is out the money and the products. These quantity of chairs cost approximately $6,000.00- that would of been a big hit for the business, so I want to make sure someone else doesn't get caught up in this type of scam. Thank you!
