Final Demand For Non Payment of Taxes

Prior to the death of my Mother, she owed some back taxes to the State of New Jersey. I worked with an Accountant and the State of NJ to negotiate a final payment, as she was suffering from a long illness. All taxes owed, were paid in full by July 2023. She passed away in October 2023. In the last 2 months (May and June 2024), I have received letters demanding payment or MY property (address my mother used while in hospice) would be seized. This is shameful, fake and causes unnecessary angst! I am glad I found this site!

Tax Lien Scam Letter

I received this in the mail 04/27/2023 - not surprised a lot of scammers are sending out this kind of "collection" letter now that the annual federal tax deadline is past. Sadly, the mail is paid for by a USPS permit 2133 out of Sacramento, CA. I don't own land or any taxes. It's "official" looking and bound to scare other people into calling the scammer's phone number listed in the body of the letter. DON'T DO IT!

A letter posing as my local tax office (but sent from Los Angeles, where I don't live) was sent to my elderly parents house with no return address. It contains no return address and is addressed from "Tax Processing Unit" as well as "Public Judgement Records" signed by an "assigned resolution agent" that is unintelligible to read. When you call the number it appears to be a lead generation office that later connects you to someone in a hurry to take down your credit card to do a discovery on your tax issues, in the thousands of dollars. These people need to be shut down hard.

These people have literally almost caused me a heart attack recently and before that dating all the way back to 2012 as I did owe some taxes and was aware of them I was also getting these fake ones in the mail, my mom had just died and I was out of my mind. I subsequently ended up living in fear up until this January when I sold my condo and bought another place escrow on the deal paid everyone so now I know these are BS. These people need to be stopped they ruined almost a decade of my life with fear

Received in the mail a 'final judgement notice' and that 'failure to respond will result penalty accumulation and a default judgement against me.'

Letter only provides a 1-800-217-7084 number and no mailing address.

I did not call, and shredded the notice since it is fake, and I already am working with a lawyer.

Similar follow up notice received 09/14/2020. Your property will be seized. Final demand for payment.for nonpayment of Taxes to the Federal Tax Authorities. call 1(800)570-5197.

(Note that lien was fully paid and discharged last year.)

Recieved two letters and when i called they wanted me to give them the info that they should have already had I said i think this is fake and he said no this is very real. When he started in saying they can help with the situation i said i already have a lawyer. He yelled then why are you calling me and hung up. fake fake Rude.

I just realized that this notice is from the same named 'company' as the report filed a few minutes ago. The letters look different and they state they will get their monies from different sources. Again, only a phone number is provided.

Received in the mail an official looking letter from a Benefits Suspension Unit stating there in a Notice to Levy Social Security Benefits. I contacted the IRS and the agent I talked to had never heard of this unit. The only identifying information in the letter was a phone number.
