I have been searching months for a boxer puppy to add to my home. Since I had no luck with Craigslist, I joined many boxer pages on Facebook and would write a post on each page: “Looking for a female boxer. Located in Hawaii” in hopes to find a legitimate breeder that had an available puppy to buy and this guy, under the Facebook name “Ben Mark Steve” commented on one of my posts with a picture of a cute Boxer puppy with a comment “$900”. Because he was one of the only people to comment on my post with an actual picture of the Puppy, I reached out to him on messenger. Long story short, he said he had an available female boxer and that he was located in Hilo. I am on a different island but was willing to travel to buy the puppy. I gave him my legit phone number and he texted me from a “burner phone” type of number that you wouldn’t be able to look up. I’ve known people to use app texting methods when trying to buy or sell online so no one would have your actual number. That should’ve been my red flag but I was too interested in wanting to get the puppy that I continued with this “seller”. I had asked him for pictures of the puppy and he would say he’d send them but didn’t actually send it till 3 days later. I’d ask him questions about the puppy but he would just constantly ask me to send the “deposit” money before he’d answer any questions. I told him I don’t do deposits to hold a puppy because of scamming situations and that I would only meet up and do a trade off then. He then says he understands so he went on about saying he’ll get the paperwork for the puppy done and I will be able to meet up with him if I flew to Hilo. So I ended up booking my flight to Hilo and told him that it was confirmed that I was coming to meet up with him. The day I went to the airport to fly to Hilo, he was putting so much pressure for me to “send the deposit right away so i can confirm it before we meet” and he would send his cash app. I was so confused because we already agreed that I wasn’t going to send any deposit and just give him his full asking price when we met up. Then as I was sitting at my gate to board the plane, he would start telling me that I needed to send my deposit or he would not meet up with me. At this point i’m starting to get mad, I’m putting all this effort into flying to the other island just to buy a puppy and now that the day has come, he’s pushing me so hard to give him $100 before he meets with me so he knows

i’m “a serious buyer”. Like flying to the outer island isn’t legit enough for him! I just wanted him to meet with me when I landed so before we took off, I stupidly sent the $100 to his cash app account with a screenshot of the confirmed payment as he asked. We agreed on a time and place to meet when I landed. I land in Hilo and texted him to let him know and that I will be on my way to our agreed spot. He then texts me that some “issues” has popped up that he needs to get sorted out before he meets me and that I needed to pay him $300 more dollars before he will meet me!! I was livid!!! I didn’t feel like he was legit at that moment anymore. I still went to the spot (the mall) to see if he’d show up anyways. He would just call me and tell me to send more money but I kept refusing. Then he started telling me about how his friend lended him money and how he was suppose to pay him back with the money I was going to give him for the puppy and asks me to send money to his FRIENDS CASH APP before he meets with me. I just ignored all his stories and pushed him to meet up with me instead. I waited 2 hours while he kept telling me he was “10 minutes away”. I finally gave up and went off on him in text that I knew he was a scam and that I wanted my money back. He’d STILL say that if I send him money he will deliver my puppy to me like wtf? I requested a refund on the cash app but he denied it and then tells me he can only send money back if it’s $200 so I would need to send him another $100 before he could refund me. So f’n stupid!! I know how the cash app works and I told him but he still claims that’s not how his cash app is. Till this day I text his scam number to send me back my money and he just replies “ok”. I wish I listened to my gut feeling on this one, I wish I never gave in to sending him $100 just to meet up with me!! I also tried to report that he’s a scam on Facebook so no one else could get scammed by him but the admin of the boxer page blocked me instead?? I wish I could attach a picture of his comment on my post, his scam number he uses, the scam cash apps that was involved and some screen shots of our conversations.
