I was contacted over text by a Sarah Freedman, who claimed to work for Belrose Pharma Inc., a pharmaceutical company that needed a remote data entry position filled. It seemed to be real as the company had supposed proof of existence since 2013, and I made sure to send in my resume like she asked to the email on the website, which Sarah Freedman responded with. After I took a single assessment, Sarah claimed I had been accepted, and this is where the red flags started popping up. For one, even though the company would be sending me the equipment I would need, they also required me to cash a check to take a certification, which wasn't specified in the offer letter. Second, the offer letter was a pdf. Further investigation into the company revealed several others had the same offer and acceptance sent to them, and that the actual company, Belrose Pharma, didn't have any recent work. It seems the scammers took Belrose Pharma and made a fake website for Belrose Pharma Inc. Another site listed the company as being a legitimate pharmaceutical company, but the phone number attached didn't work.
