I was contacted on upwork by someone named Clair Langford who provided me with the email for their "HR Department head" to schedule an interview time for a virtual personal assistant position. I was then interviewed via Google Hangouts over just text by someone claiming to be *** Hall. The interview was about an hour long with several legitimate seeming interview questions. Within 20 mins after the interview "*** Hall" informed me that I had been chosen for the job and then proceeded to send me an employment contract letter stating my hourly pay and job duties as well as a W-4 to sign and send back to her, which I did along with a copy of my drivers license. The next day she emailed me a check from Citi Bank instructing me to deposit it into my bank via my banking app where I can take a photo of the check to deposit it. I immediately knew upon looking at the check that it was a fake. The bank address on it is incomplete, there are no water marks, the signature is very light like it came from a stamp and the back of it is so blurry you can hardly read any of it. As soon as I told her I was physically taking it into my bank she stopped responding. Upon doing some internet research I discovered that Bell Techlogix IS an actual company and the name of their head of HR IS *** Hall but she is not who I have been speaking with. None of the contact info I was given matches up with anything from Bell Techlogix. I am so happy I was able to tell it was fake.

I was contacted from this email about an employment opportunity in which I would be working IT customer service from home. They told me that I would need to purchase office materials and that they would send me a check in order to pay for these materials. However, they emailed me an image of the check from CitiBank and told me to deposit the check into my checking account through Mobile Deposit and send a screen shot of the deposit as a confirmation.
