I got a call from a man who claimed to be calling from BB Consulting of New York named Ryan Curtis (844-272-3280) He demanded I set up payment for an old payday loan I took out from Cashnet USA over 5 years ago and that I paid another debt collector 2 years ago the balance in full. He said that the person I paid 2 years ago was a fraud and proceeded to tell me how to get my money back from them and said if I did pay them then he wouldn't have my file in his office. Telling me I should pay all my bills with credit cards in case of fraud so I could get my money back and that if I wanted to report him to the FBI he has a friend there and that if they came to his house to question anything they would see I still owe. He said he worked from home and was a 61 year old man with no car that could easily walk across the street and file the charges at the court house. The first call he said he worked directly with the court house in Calvert County, MD. 2nd call he stated he'd file the charges in my current county in Arkansas. He said that if I didn't pay he would file 3 criminal charges against me for bank/check fraud and I'd be arrested and jailed. I asked Mr. Curtis for proof of loan still being owed and the address to his company so I could verify things and he said that because of him buying my loan and the date of loan and under the federal law he didn't have to prove to me that the loan was still owed. I said to him if you are telling the same thing that the people I paid 2 years ago said to me then how do I know your not a fraud. He said because I told you I'd give you a pay off letter and I said so did the other and I never saw one from them. This guy has me scared as I know I've paid this loan off and I am caring for elderly family members and I'm a single mother of 2 young boys. This guy has me scared. I have reported this to the FTC, FBI and All three State Attorney Generals offices of NY, MD,VA
