I received this job opportunity through my email. Ordinarily I wouldn't respond but I had been on job search sites prior to this opportunity so I just assumed it came from one of those sites. I was contacted for a phone interview with HR which I scheduled and spoke with a live person. I was then sent an employment contract that I signed and received my employee login on the employee portal. I worked for them from home for 45 days by receiving shipments such as cameras, computers and other merchandise. I took photos and shipped them to clients. A few times orders were cancelled so I was able to contact my supervisor by phone for help. It was always a live person so I wasn't alarmed by anything unusual. The employee portal kept track of my work and the total payment I was to expect on pay day. It was for $1500 for the first 30 days of work plus $50/package commission. I had earned $1900.00 in the approximate 45 days I performed work. On the date I was supposed to be paid, I was locked out of the employee portal. When I contacted HR, the number had been disconnected and I never heard from anyone at the company again. I contacted a lawyer and sent a certified letter requesting final payment but my request was sent back "return to sender." I was then told to go to Colorado Department of Labor to file a claim for unpaid wages. That claim was denied due to the work being performed in the State of TN. I went through TN Department of Labor and was forwarded to the US Department of Labor. I just received a call back from them after two weeks or more of reaching out to them and the lady that called on behalf of the US Department of Labor said "Well if the number you have on file for them has been disconnected and the Certified Letter you sent to them was returned to sender, how do you expect us to contact them for final paycheck?" I was dumbfounded by this response and asked if they could pull the business licencense to help recover my income and was told they don't do that for final paychecks. So I said, "So what you are telling me is I am SOL." The lady responded, "You can contact a private attorney but if you cant get ahold of them how can we?" Needless to say this whole process has been completely frustrating and I cannot get anyone in any department of labor to help me!! I am reporting this so no one else gets victimized.

I was searching on craigslist for a part time job and came across a simple deliver job . All I was expected to do was pick up purchase orders from the business and drop off at post office after inspecting the order and putting the provided shipping label on it .
