I received a text from Bank of America, it was alerting me to a suspicious transaction regarding a Zelle transfer in the amount of $3500.00. The text asked for yes or no answer, of which, I responded "no" we did not recognize or authorize this transaction. I then received a call from Bank of America and was informed that they would assist me in recovering the funds. I was asked to click on the Zelle icon on the bottom of the Bank of America app, and prompted to verify/modify some information to reverse the charges. The representative informed us that there had been several charges resulting in a loss of $10,000.00. I attempted to contact the B of A fraud department over the weekend but they were not open, so I contacted the bank on Monday to verify that the representative was actually a B of A employee. The scammer claiming to be from Bank of America had all of our information, I did not provide him anything. We were dumbfounded and devastated to learn that we had been scammed. I then contacted our local police department who informed me that there was little that could be done. I was directed to the FBI ICE.gov page where a report was filed. I also filed a report with Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and reported it to our local news station where I was interviewed on television. I had heard nothing from Bank of America and they informed me that we would not be getting our money back. I have banked there for 37 years. Right now we have no answers and have lost our savings. I have attached the initial text that I received from Bank of America and also a photo of some of the Zelle charges that occurred. Bank of America never reached out to inform us of these scams and there has been a Class Action Lawsuit filed against Bank of America regarding Zelle in the state of California.
