Was texted about a work from opportunity for Bain and company I was asked to cash a check to purchase work equipment prior to any onboarding.

I was contacted by a text message on 3/10/15 at 8:49pm from a *** *** ** *** stating that he was from *** ** *** I received the first text message at 8:49pm asking me is this (my name) I thought it may have been someone I knew with a different phone number it was a *** number I replied at 8:50pm "ugh yes who is this? the text message read as follows. "I'm *** *** ** *** from the firm (*** * ***) I wish to inform you that your resume has been reviewed by our human resource dept. Kindly reply back with (YES I AM) if your are interested" I replied I am if the position is in Murfreesboro TN. However I'm interested as to why you did not reply via email. I have never been contacted by a 617 number before" this was at 9:11pm. Then there were no responses. Then the next day 3/11/15 I received another text message this time at 3:47pm "Hello (my name) then at 3:48pm I received another message: "The positions we have available are: Customer Service, Data Entry, Office Assistant, Administrative Assistant

Receptionist/Front Desk, Sales, Representative, Executive Assistant, Payroll Clerk, Medical Biller, Typist Clerk, Medical Biller, Clerical Administrative and IT Jobs. Which of the above is your field of specialty? I immediately called the number 617-829-3641 no answer and the voicemail did not identify him at all. them I replied at 4:15pm "can you call me directly or email me" I received a reply at 4:17pm "not an issue.. E-mail is fine" then at 4:18pm I received another text message "you can as well call 617-829-3641 in the next hour" then at 4:19pm Provide me with your most preferred E-mail address" I then replied at 4:23pm I'm sorry I'm not comfortable with how your contacting me this is unprofessional. I'm turning this number over to the police" (Which I did not I just wanted to see if he would reply or call) I did not hear anything else back from him since I replied with that text message. I have never been contacted by a text message never when it comes to a job only by phone or e-mail and the fact that he asked for my information again after stating that my resume had already been reviewed. This made me feel like this was a scam because he would have already had my email address in the first place if he obtained my phone number to call. I did receive this email after I posted my resume on Indeedjobs.com I looked up the company and seen their listing their however I am not sure if this was legitimate or not it just seems like a scam. Please warn others
