A call is received with an automated marketing message with a legitimate way to make money with Amazon through their affiliate program. It provides a brief overview, states to leave your name and phone number for a call back from an Amazon associate to go over the program in detail. It is further stated that by leaving your call back information you aren't under any financial obligation what so ever. When dialed directly, it provides the same message as stated above. The phone number is: 800-279-4268. I originally received a voicemail, but called the number directly and received the same message. A representative called me back within two days, addressed himself as an Amazon employee and explained in detail the Amazon affiliate marketing program - (which is a real program with them). He went on to advise about setting up a website for this program, and that they use a company to do it for you. The additional service offered beyond the custom built site specifically designed for and to sell Amazon products is the setup and linking of your affiliate profile to your site. The package price ranges from $200 to $700 depending on the current promotions as it was stated to me. You are then given an opportunity to pay for your site, with a promise that your custom site should be done in about 5 business or so fully ready and setup for you. Your told that you'll receive an email confirmation, a welcome and further instructions. I waited the five business days; nothing. I Gave it an extra couple of days, considering brand new orders typically aren't placed on a Friday afternoon. I called the "Amazon rep" back; explained I hadn't received any word yet. Another week passes, then I receive an email from a company called B2B Website design stating my site is complete, and a checklist of instructions: review the site, make sure links are working, send in the W-9 form to complete the setup of your Amazon affiliate profile so you can be paid, and that your advertising counselor will reach out to you to schedule a strategy session with you to help you make money. I received an email from B2B customer service stating my rep was Jason Turley. I set an appointment with him which has come and gone. In fact, the appointment that was setup 2 weeks in advance; was cancelled by way of email 20 minutes before the time that this strategy call was to take place with no explanation. I've called him back and emailed to no avail. All phone numbers are designed to have message be left to a voicemail no matter what time of day you call, however, the message states that all reps are busy. There are countless stories out there like mine, and several complaints with higher amounts of money lost and longer wait times than I experienced.
