I received a bill from this company one year and two months after services from my doctor's office for laboratory services. The bill was in the amount of $1432.49, when I called to see what this was for, they said they did the urine tests for my doctors office. I then asked why am I receiving this 1 year and two months later? They had no idea, other that sometimes Anthem Blue Cross is slow. I contacted my doctors office to have the bill's resubmitted, I was then informed, I don't have a balance and they have nothing to send to be collected I have a zero balance. So I called back Avutox and they stated, no its a bill not covered by your insurance and that they submitted it, it's because they are out of network. I called Anthem she saw red flags too. She called the office of Avutox and asked them to resubmit the bills to be paid and they refused. I then called my doctors office, after being told by Avutox that if I am in financial hardship they would be willing to take $200.00 off my bill. The billing department at my doctors office informed me, that they have had several complaints from patients, about receiving such bills so late after service, and not to pay it. Because I do not owe it, and Avutox knows I do not owe it. They have a contract with my dr's office at Hartford Hospital that I pay no more than $85.00 made payable to my doctor's office for urinalysis tests, which I have paid after services are rendered that day, and also if I get a 3 rd invoice of them demanding money to call them and fax it over and they will take care of it by calling them. Now what if I didn't know any better and paid it. What if I was elderly not so alert and did inquire with my insurance company or my dr's office. I own a home care agency, and know that companies are out there that prey on the vulnerable, such as elderly. This company is creating fraudulent invoices, and have no answers, when you call the billing department. All service reps I spoke to were rude and had no answers, typically most customer care service reps know procedure to answer such questions. They know what they are doing and they want to collect that money so they act more like a collection agency than a lab testing facility. Not to mention I didn't even have services from my doctor on the days they say services were rendered. 3 dates they performed 1400.00 worth of charges. It's all a scam. I'm curious as to how many people paid there invoice that was not due to Avutox!
