Avis rental car, calling themselves DIY Jeeps, advertise rental of Jeep Wranglers as a self guided tour in Skagway Alaska. When we got there, we were told the company was Avis, and Avis had sold all the Jeep Wranglers. So, the bait and switch was a SUV instead, for the same price There are few options in Skagway. It is a cruise ship stop. Excursions have to be reserved months and more in advance. So, it was “take the SUV or we could do nothing.” We had rented three Wranglers and we’re given three Cherokees.
It was like we rented Ford Mustangs, and were given Ford Pintos instead, for the same price.
False advertising and bait and switch scam. Avis should be ashamed.
