I have been contacted and asked to do exterior painting on a house here in Clarksville. I have only been communicating by text thus far. The house address in the scam I found online for sale and contacted the sales agent, who by chance bought the house a week ago and has renters moving in this weekend. She is not the individual that contacted me nor does she want any work done on her property. I confirmed the address with the scammer and gave them a price for the work they wanted done. The price was almost double what the work was worth and the scammer still agreed to the price. They offered me a check for 50% down that would also include money for a carpenter that was to be doing work on the house. I was to pay the carpenter from the additional money included in the deposit check. I gave them an address to send the check to and I'm waiting for it to arrive.

I'm not sure how or if this scammer can be caught but I have included the text messages below as well the "real homeowners" name and phone number. I reverse looked up the scammers phone number as well and found a name for that # as well.

Please advise me on what else I can do to help catch this scammer.
