A young man that claimed to be my Grandson called crying and told me he was in trouble because he had a wreck. It was hard to actually understand because he was crying and sobbing, but said an attorney would be calling me with an information on how to keep this off his record and asked that I please help him and he would pay me back. That call ended and then a man calling himself David Wiseman called me from 604-374-0684. He said that since the person he was in a wreck with was from New York he was representing him. He said that his client would settle out of court for $4,000 cash and he could make sure that there was no charges filed on my grandson since it was his first offense. He instructed me to go to the Walmart on Georgia and obtain (4) gift cards worth $1,000 each and call him back with the numbers on the back after I scratched them off. I was very scared and shaken because I would do anything to help my grandson. I did as I was told and he actually called me about the time I got back in my car in the parking lot. I scratched off the numbers and read them to him. He thanked me and said my grandson would be cleared and released very soon. I had a funny feeling about this because my grandson does not even drink and has never been in trouble. I immediately started calling the local jails and sheriff office to find that he was not there and had not been there. The law enforcement officer told me I had been victim to a scam. I called the Walmart I had gotten the cards from and explained to the woman that helped me before I was scammed. She said they had not been cashed yet. She said told me she would cancel them and re-issue me (4) more.
