I answered a call today from "ATT". They said they had a promotional that would drop my bill for services that I already had (2). They said that ATT was doing this because people leaving them had complained about high prices and that they also wanted to help during the pandemic. The new pricing would be for 2 years. It then got complicated. They said that Ebay was a partner helping with the promotional and I would have to pay the first 2 months at the new pricing in advance. I would have to do this with an Ebay gift card and I would not have to pay for the next 2 months afterward. If I payed with the Ebay gift card on the same day, I would get a one hundred dollar gift card back from ATT. They gave me a promotional code to use when calling the ATT/Direct TV line (888-426-9303). At that time I would give the promo-code and information from the Ebay gift card to them. The call was ended at that point. As I thought about it, I could not get past a large company like ATT having to go this route for a promotional and decided to check my area's ScamPulse.com for scams. I found a similar one posted for August 24, 2020. It stated that a person had gotten the same kind of offer for Direct TV. Once they checked with a number on the bill, ATT stated that they never had anyone pay with an Ebay gift card. I did not call the number that was given to me to accept the "promotional."

I received a text indicating it was from AT&T regarding an unsuccessful payment. The text included a phone number to call to resolve the issue.

I received an automated text message claiming to be ATT saying my auto payment did not go through. I do not have any accounts with ATT
