I received a call for AT & T Directv stating they were offering a promotion for 50% off our monthly bill and would reduce our bill to $60 / month including taxes and all equipment fees. The price would be good for 2 years all we needed to do is pay for the 1st 6 months in advance. They knew my account number, address & monthly bill amount. They played AT & T music and promotions while on hold. It really seamed like the call was from AT & T. After I accepted the promotion he then asked for payment and asked if I had ever heard of ebay. and said they were sponsoring this special promotion. I stated getting an uneasy feeling so when he got to the payment portion I said I would call into the billing office and make the $180 payment. He said I could do that but I would have to purchase and ebay card and pay with it. I explained I pay my bills with my account with Directv. I explained I do not use ebay. He then told be I could go to Walgreens and purchase eBay card and call the number he gave me and make the payment. When I refused he said he will cancel my subscription and there would be $180 fee for early cancelation. I told him , no, I had not paid and I did not complete my enrollment and he did not fully explain it had to be paid by eBay card until the end of the enrollment. He said he enrolled me and processed the cancelation request and I would be charged the $180. I immediately called DIRECTV. They said this was scam they will not call with this type of promotion on regular programming....They changed my account passcode and forwarded the information to the fraud department. The phone numbers they used for me were 855-396-1726 & 844-551-0585 they answer phone as AT & T DIRECTV. Beware....if it is to good to be true it is scam. Hang up and call the numbers on your billing invoice and ask them about the promotion.... I have not had any loss of money and DIRECTV said they had only charged 5.99 to my account so far and they removed it and we changed my passcode...
