I found out that the profile the house was under got removed from AirBnB. I received and email from the lady the listing was under saying their profile got removed and they were unsure why.
She then sent me a link to their personal website to reserve the house again and they would give me 10% off for the inconvenience.
This website looked very professional with multiple other houses on it.
But this is why it felt like a scam.
If you schedule with AirBnB you have the option to pay half up front or pay the full amount.
I had paid half which was $655. (AirBnB gave me a full refund when it got cancelled).
These people, Michelle & George, tried to get me to pay the whole amount upfront PLUS a $1500 "refundable" security deposit.
I told them AirBnB only charged me half up front and no deposit. I could not pay that.
So they came back with another offer. BUT it was now 75% up front.
I said no again I could only pay $655 right now and the rest a month before our stay. I also said if they cant accommodate to that then I will look for somewhere else to stay.
They sent another quote for what I asked for.
Since I was already suspicious I decided to see how they would be taking my payment.
All you did was go to the website and fill in your information. There was not an option for paypal or anything.
BUT THENNNN at the bottom you have to accept the "privacy policy & terms and conditions" before proceeding.
I clicked on the terms and conditions to read it and THERE WASN'T ONE. There also wasn't a privacy policy.
So I decided not to risk it and stick with AirBnB.
I also found some other scams similar to my experience on here even though it wasnt the same company.
Plus side, I didnt lose any money.
