Apple iTunes Reports & Reviews (5)

Feb. 5,2021 I received an fake email from someone I thought I knew. They requested that I purchase $300 worth of Apple itunes gift cards and provide them with the pin numbers on the back of the card. I did that and found out later that the sender was a phony. Luckily I stopped short of providing the pin numbers to the scammers...so they gained nothing.

I noticed some charges on my credit card from Apple iTunes. I googled Apple iTunes and saw a 877 number next the the website link. I clicked on the number and the person on the other line answered pretending to be an Apple iTunes rep. He asked for my Apple ID account name and asked for the last 4 numbers of the credit card associated with the account. He did not ask for passwords or my full credit card number. I told him of some of the charges and he said he can see these charges were from different states New York, Buffalo and a pending charge from Russia. He said my Apple iTunes account was compromised and that he needed to deactivate it to protect me and to then reinstate a new account. He said the charges would be refunded back to my credit card. He said in order to do this he needed me to buy a 100 Apple iTunes card and would reimburse me for the purchase. I buy the card and he waits on the phone the entire time. Tells me not to tell the clerk what is going on and to say it was for personal use because they would charge a tax and take it from the balance the card. I give him the Apple iTunes card number on back. He then says I’m processing your refund and sends a confirmation txt to my phone. In the confirmation it says 1000.00 instead of 100.00 and he says ooh wait my billing department made a mistake. Can you go get a Apple iTunes card for 1000.00 so I can fix the mistake. Then changes the request to Google Play cards. I was about to buy two google play cards for $500 each and the fake rep stayed on the phone with me. I muted my phone and told the clerk what happen and the clerk informed me that was a scam and there was a customer before me who did the same thing and took all his money. I immediately canceled the transaction and hung up the phone. That fake rep tried calling me back a bunch of times but I didn’t answer my phone. Please be careful when google searching and calling numbers displayed in the links.

They posed as Apple ITunes trying to get me to give them my iTunes card # or go buy one and, after I give them the card#, they’ll transfer the $387.51 that has been stolen from me over the last year by someone that has compromised my Apple ID.

I thought someone got my credit card number. it was a receipt from apple iTunes and said I ordered a iTunes card for $100. If you want to cancel the order you could click on cancel order. It then asked for my credit card # and social security #. I can't believe I fell for it! It looked just like an iTunes receipt.

I thought I was calling iTunes. I googled the number and when I called they said they needed me to get an iTunes card to activate my phone. I don't know much about the company Apple so I didn't know what I was getting myself into. I will say these people were hard to understand. I read them the number on the back of the card. They got that money, and I got nothing.
