My iPhone was stolen in September. It was put into Lost Mode. On October 16, I received a notification that the iPhone was found in Mexico. On October 17, I received a phone cal from Apple Support indicating there was suspicious activity on my iCloud account. (The number that showed up on my Caller ID is the actual Apple Support toll-free number; the scammer was able to make his true phone number.) I was directed to my laptop and instructed to install GoToAssist so a scan could be run, since the scammer indicated all my Apple devices had been hacked. The scammer was able to put up official-looking Apple webpages on my laptop, along with his "credentials." After running two "scans," the scammer indicated that my online identity had been compromised, and that hackers had created a "Bad Limit" of around $13,000. I would need to purchase "securities" to work against the "Bad Limit" and bring it down to zero. Otherwise, any payment transaction I made under $13.000 would be funneled into the hacker account instead of actually being a payment. The "securities" ended up being gift cards, specifically Walmart and Target. I would buy the gift card and report the codes off the back to the scammer. He indicated I should not lose phone contact with him because the Apple server is so secure and the only way to keep the "hackers" from knowing what I was doing. This went on for a few hours until his actions became annoying and alarming. I cut off all communications, but I had already given him the codes for the gift cards, and they were already spent. I had destroyed the gift cards at his insistence after giving him the codes. Lost $5,500.

This is a copy of the Apple PHISHING Scam email I received. It said someone was trying to access my Apple ID therefore it was locked. So

I clicked on the email link "Verify" that took me to an Apple website that looked legitimated. I proceeded by clicking on the arrow next to my email address. Next it asked for my personal information (name, address, tele no., date of birth) email address; credit card no. (expiration, security code); Social Security Number; and added selfie photos of me with my credit card and another selfie photo of me with my California Driver's License. Can't believe I was so gullible. I went to my Apple ID settings on my iPhoneX and changed my Password and set it to dual verification. After I contacted AppleID support and they informed me that the email I received was PHISHING, that they had no Apple office location from Ireland that would alert me of such AppleID security alert. YIKES!...I cancelled my credit card, but they still have my personal info, SS# and CA driver's license ID info.

I have received several phone calls in the last 24 hours from many different phone numbers. All of the callers leave the same message about my iCould being compromised and to press numbers to be transferred to Apple's tech support for help.
