I received an email from a Linda Knowels from [email protected] asking about bookkeeping services with no other contact information. I requested a phone number for discussion and instead received an email back asking questions about printing checks 3x a week, approximately 300 per month. This proceeded into a series of emails back and forth asking questions to get further information on what they needed. They wanted me to purchase all of the check stock and supplies as well and bill them for it. After providing a quote, they asked me to send them an invoice for $5,500 to get started. This seemed highly unusual for an initial services contact, so I requested they complete my new client form first. While I waited, I researched the name and found this website detailing the scam, almost to exact detail for bookkeeping check printing services that I received. The website that comes up in the search is for an actual person, who has a warning on their website that someone is trying to use their company for fraud. I declined to take on services for this person, and I have not received any further emails, confirming my instinct that this is a scam.
