I was contacted via email about an interview for a job that I had allegedly applied to online. The job is an online position for Data Entry/ Customer Service- I would work from home. The company claims to be a biotechnology firm expanding in the USA. They claimed to have offices in Florida and they are supposed to be building an office complex in Atlanta, which is where I would be offered to relocate to.
I don't remember applying. I was instructed that the interview would be conducted online through google hangout, which it was. Within 15 minutes after texting the interviewer/manager I was offered the job. I accepted the position. The next day I was mailed a check of $3,670.29 which I was told to use the money to buy software and equipment for my online job. This is when I started getting suspicious. I was told to deposit the funds and buy specific software through their vendors only. I started to comply. I deposited the check. Thank God only $300 was made available immediately. I was then instructed to send the $300 to a "vendor" of software in New York. I did, but then I started asking for the person to show proof that I was officially hired and that they are a real business. But they never responded, which is why I think it was a scam.
