A person posted on facebook about a housekeeping/cleaner position with a "family friend". We contacted the person to inquire about the job and found that they are in Canada and were planning to move to the United States soon. They said they were a young couple with a daughter and a baby on the way. They wanted someone to clean their apartment and the facebook post said they would pay cash. They wanted to send us a check for more than what was agreed upon for the salary. They wanted us to cash the check and buy other household items but we quickly realized it was a scam and when we told the person that we would not be cashing in any checks or taking checks as a form of payment because of other scams that have been going around with fake checks. The person has our name, address, phone number and age. They even sent pictures of a young family and their daughter, we are not sure if they are the people in the pictures or if they used someone else's pictures. Once we looked into the original facebook post we saw that the person had been posting similar posts about needing someone to clean for a family friend but each post had a different name for the employer and different email addresses. We have reported the original post but these people could still be making new posts to scam others not only in my area but in many other places as well.
