I went on Craigslist to find a new dog for my family since our old one passed away. Miguel Santos advertised his Cavapoo puppies on it. He advertised them as his dog having puppies. I messaged him and he jacked for my number and texted back. We texted for a week. I asked tons of questions. At times, I thought there were other people texting me because the style of text changed or he wasn’t aware anymore of things we talked about. I researched the number and animal-gardens popped up as an online pet retailer which is the same number he was using. I inquired and said your advertisement was in the Baltimore Craigslist and said local. This number is located in Colorado. He said his business is online pet retailer and he can ship the dog for me. He does it all the time. I was very skeptical. He reassured me repeatedly and explained the process. I told him it was false advertisement to say you live locally and then you don’t. On my birthday I finally sent him what little money I had from the kids Christmas money to get them their puppy. We had first negotiatiated half before and half when the puppy arrives. At the last second he cut the puppy price down from $575 to $400 and said all because the puppy has to be registered under my name. He took down my shipping information. He had me transfer the money through zelle. Afterwards he sent me a fake puppy carrier email and link using the website opticwavelogiatocs.com. It had incorrect information in it but he said that he would “sort” it out with them and a tracking number. In the middle of the night I received a email from them saying the puppy had arrived in the airport near me but in order to deliver to my house I have to pay for life insurance for the puppy - $500 refundable on delivery. I contacted Miguel and he said he received the same message and it was so strange but he will go to the company and sort it out and deliver the fee to them but transfer the money to him. I didn’t have anymore money and couldn’t and he pleaded and begged and i said if it was refundable then he can use his own money. I then called up the airport to inquire about the laws and codes stated in the email and they knew nothing about it. I told Miguel I don’t want the dog anymore and I need my money back and again it looked like through the text that someone else was talking to me. They stopped texting. I began calling the number and it is a text-only number and can’t answer phone calls. He scammed me for $400 and almost another $500 plus.
