I saw a Facebook post about a work from home job. I responded to it and the person Told me to go on Google hangouts and email someone with a interview code. From there the person who was interviewing me started asking questions. Once I was "hired" he asked for me my banking information such as account number and online access login information. A check got deposited into my account. Now my bank is fraud locked due because the check was proven to be fraudulent. I tried to pull the money out to transfer it to another account for the place. But was unsuccessful pulling the money out. The person now is threatening me saying I have the money and for me to return it but I don't have it. And now my bank account is being closed. From the get go it didn't sound right. First they wanted the money in my bank account then he said he want me to transfer it to cash app to pay the vendor.
The first message i got was "I am James Smith communication manager AMERIGROUP..I would be the one to brief you about the company and Interview. I am here to brief and interview you more about the opening position. How are you doing?"

Work from home customer service position offered. Offer was conditioned upon purchasing equipment before being eligible to start working. Asked for credit card information, including balance and limits. Asked for online access to bank accounts, including username and password, so that they could monitor money the company would provide to buy the equipment. Scammer stated that the official paperwork and offer of employment would only be sent once the equipment was purchased and in place.

Received an email after applying for customer service representative position on indeed.com. The steps in email where to add contact email to Google Hangouts application. Proceeded to inform me about their company and gave me a link to look at a video. www.amerigroup.com shared I would be working from home and they are placing a center near me soon. Stated a check would be mailed out to me for supplies to work from home. Received the check and was contacted via Hangouts as to when I would deposit. Was asked for three days straight about depositing the check that was sent out. Called my financial institution and they research and confirmed the scam.

Possible imposter company using this company's name to perpetrate a scam.

I signed up for a stay-at-home job. Did the interview via email and within moments they told me that I had the job. We stayed in contact for the last few days about the check and what I was going to do each day. And when I got the check the company wanted me to deposit the check via ATM, but the credit union that was on the check verified that the check was fraud.

I received an email to do an online interview which I was requested to set up in google hangouts. I proceeded and started an online chat. After a short while I started to realize this did not seem legitimate. I was told what the pay would be and asked how I wanted to get paid and what Bank I used. This was all before anything was talked about as far as (being offered the job or job details). They said I was accepted for this position when I really was not asked much or given any information about job duties(when I requested them). They mentioned I would receive a check asap to buy equipment from a local vendor to work from home and that I needed to be available first thing in the morning to set up instructions with a training instructor as to the use of software. They would not tell me anything about specific job details when I asked. At this point I declined to go any further and deleted them from hangouts. I did save the conversation in case it may be needed for future reference. I believe they were looking to get my bank account information. I contacted Amerigroup to verify information. They said this is NOT their procedure in hiring.

five minutes later I received the same email but it was from a Farisha Ali email ([email protected]) I created the account on google hangouts and actually had the interview with Ms Tasha Grant or someone I believed to be her. She stated the position I applied for was not available, but they had an Office Assistant job available and would I be interested in the position. She gave me the job description and stated You will undergo three days training from your training supervisor, He/She will training you on how to work with the programs accurate and other Data entry works you will need to get done.Your training is going to be done online. You will Earn $26 per hour and training $19 per hour You will receive your pay via Direct deposit or Paycheck weekly. That is when I stared to think it was a scam, because before the interview I went back to try and find the position I applied for (because I keep a record of every job I apply for) so I can go back and read the job description before the interview and I could not find the position. I stated yes I would be interested in the position and she began the interview. She gave me a website to review about the company https://www.amerigroup.com. The interview continued and at the end she stated the interview went well and she needed to contact her boss for further approval. After 7 minutes she can back and said we would like to offer you the position. She then stated To enable you sit for this job and position there are working equipment and software's which are required for this job and position this is because you will be working from home as all expenses are handle by the company, so there for the company will be sending you a check, this check will be for the purchase of all the working equipment that you need as you will be purchasing them from the company local vendor, method of purchase and means of payment will be made known to you when the check get to you, as you will be getting the check asap...You are advise to be here online by 9 am Tomorrow morning so i can attach you to your training supervisor that will instruct you on the use of the software and he will be in charge of your duties is that clear? She took my name, address, and phone number and asked me to return on time at 9 am where she would put me in contract with my training supervisor. Once we finished the interview I went back to the website and went to the contract us page I tried to contract the people who were listed with no response. Then I did a google search for job scams and was directed to bbb.org site. I do not plan on keeping the 9 am meeting.

I received an email stating that my application was placed on the "shortlist" and they wanted to conduct an "online interview in gmail "Hangouts". I received the email address and the name of the individual (Cassandra [email protected]). She interviewed me using the messaging, all typing. After the interview, she informed me to be available at 8 am the next morning so she could connect me with my training supervisor, Mr. Nicholas M. Rayven.

I went online, she gave me his email address to connect with him ([email protected]). He began asking for my full name and where I bank and mentioned again about the company sending me a check to deposit and use the funds to purchase software and equipment required for the job. I started asking questions and became more and more suspicious. He ended the session and said I needed to be online at 8 am the next morning so he could get me the Employment Letter and the check sent to me. I got the letter, signed and dated it, and returned it to him. After a while he got back online and said he would get the front and back of the check printed for me and that I needed to deposit the check immediately. He sent me the check in the email. Big Red Flag! I starting questioning the process again and expressed my apprehension. He wanted to know if my bank had a deposit limit for my account. When I told him I didn't think so, he said the check would be for $10000. I questioned that. He explained unconvincingly why. When I got the check it was for $8,890. After reviewing the check I noticed it was not from Amerigroup, but Geico Federal Credit Union. Again I questioned the process and everything went downhill. I told him I would not accept the position and would not deposit the check. There was a long pause and he finally returned after about twenty-five minutes and typed, "`You can delete all information you have about the company." That concluded our interaction. NOTE: I kept copies of everything except the very first email I received. Unfortunately, I deleted it with a lot of other old emails.
