I went to this company for student loan consolidation.. they got two $399 payments out of me and is taking monthly payments out if my account.. but when I tried to contact them about a missed payment I could not get in touch with them after realizing that there website does not offer options to pay on my account.. I called FedLoans and they informed me that my loans were in forbarence and that their was a third party consolidator involved.. and it was probably a scam.. I finally started to google them (something I should have done first), just to find out I've been scammed.. I feel like a [censored]...

This scammer led me to believe that they would consolidate my federal loans and that the Department of Education would pay them off. After DOE pays them off I would have a lowered interest rate of 6-6.1% and would owe $39 a month. After 10 years the loan would be forgiven, no matter how much was left. They asked for my personal checking information. They asked me to sign via online documents (which I unfortunately did) and then wanted me to send in two paystubs and other documents to prove my place of work. I did not go through with any of the paperwork, as I am in the process of cancelling and trying to protect my personal information. They told me I would have 48 hours to cancel, which I am in the process of doing now. I have yet to receive a cancellation e-mail, but the agent that I spoke to did call me back and left a voicemail. In the voicemail the "agent" acknowledged that I wanted to cancel and wanted to know if I had any other questions.

Amerifed is a horrible company. It started out with them sending me a letter that looked like a legit letter from the department of education. When I called it all sounded great and they stated that once my loans were consolidated it would be $39 a month and my loans would be forgiven after the 10 years. They asked for my FASFA information... stole the information they got from me and stated that they had a great deal for me. After I ended my phone call everything sounded really fishy to me... I literally have been dealing with trying to cancel and close everything. Cancelling the “contact” I signed with them, cancelling back accounts, cards, changing passwords, etc. DON’T trust this company... never confirm information they don’t have. Learning the hard way. I’m so nervous now that they have my personal information.

I WAS SENT A LETTER IN THE MAIL FROM WHAT APPEARED TO BE A FEDERAL GOVERNMENT AGENCY, SAYING THAT MY STUDENT LOANS WERE ABOUT TO BECOME DELINQUENT AND I NEEDED TO TAKE IMMEDIATE ACTION. I CALLED THE NUMBER ON THE LETTER AND IT TURNED OUT TO BE AMERIFED. AMERIFED MAKES THEMSELVES SEEM AS THOUGH THEY ARE PARTNERED WITH THE DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION TO PROVIDE LOAN CONSOLIDATION. AMERIFED CHARGES A FEE OF $266.33 CHARGED FOR 3 MONTHS, AND THEN YOUR "REPAYMENT" OF LOANS WHICH IS $39 FOR A PERIOD OF 240 MONTHS. THEN YOUR DEBT IS ALLEGEDLY COMPLETELY PAID OFF. I BECAME SUSPICIOUS AFTER I RECEIVED A VOICEMAIL, TEXT MESSAGE, AND EMAIL SAYING MY FIRST $39 PAYMENT HAD DECLINED. THERE WAS NO REASON FOR THE PAYMENT TO HAVE DECLINED, SO I LOOKED AT MY BANK STATEMENTS AND DIDN'T SEE ANY ATTEMPTED CHARGES. THEN I GOOGLED "AMERIFED" AND CAME UPON REVIEWS FOR AMERIFED ON THE ScamPulse.com WEBSITE. THEY CLAIMED AMERIFED IS A SCAM. AFTER CONTACTING NAVIENT, WHO SERVICES MY STUDENT LOANS, I LEARNED NO PAYMENTS HAD BEEN MADE TO MY ACCOUNT AND NO CONSOLIDATION PLAN HAD BEEN ISSUED FOR MY ACCOUNT. I WAS SCAMMED. THE DEPT OF EDUCATION OFFERS LOAN CONSOLIDATION PROGRAMS AT NO FEE. AMERIFED MADE IT SEEM LIKE THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT WAS CHARGING THE FEE FOR MY REPAYMENT PLAN.
