America's Party Company Reports & Reviews (3)

I had found this company as a special on a Groupon that had said to please call before purchasing the Groupon. I called and they said they would be happy to come to our location and give us the Groupon price. I gave them all of my information over the phone and setup the date, time, everything. I emailed them to check in two weeks before the wedding and received an email saying they had cancelled my photo booth due to some bank issues, but their provider is still willing to do the job, I would just have to pay again. After another email of them saying that their phone lines are down, I shortly after realized I had been scammed and they were even trying to do it again.

My sister researched for me online for a photo booth rental for my wedding. She found "America's Party Company" via their website; compared prices with other businesses, and suggested them to me. I submitted an inquiry via their website, they contacted me via phone where I gave them all the necessary info to get a quote.

They emailed me a proposal; I held off for 11 days to compare other options.

Then I emailed them back on April 29th in the same email threads as the proposal and asked if it was still valid. Their rep Amber contacted me by phone within half hour and cemented details, took my credit card and charged me $587.55. I forgot about it for a few months.

About a month or so before the wedding, I received a phone call trying to solicit my business to reserve a photo booth. They said they had received my inquiry and were following up. I was confused and told them I had already got that booked up. They said "how about I throw in a DJ and an MC?" and I told them again, no, I had all that reserved already, I was all set. The girl on the phone sounded confused and had nothing to say.

This did however make me nervous and I got a weird feeling, so I emailed America's Party Company a few times and tried to call to receive confirmation with no return email or phone call. Which made me more nervous.

On August 10th (my wedding is August 27) I received an email from "Casey" cancelling the reservation because "their credit card processor has not released the funds to them." Of course I emailed back frantically and they never responded. They said in the email that someone would contact me; they never did.

My sister tried to research it for me and after clicking on a few links at work her computer started acting strange and had to fend off an attack that her tech guy fixed, and then she worked to find me another (legit) photo booth.

She secured another photo booth and I am working with my bank to file a claim and dispute the charge now and get my money back. I called them on August 10th, after receiving the cancellation email.

Just today on August 22nd, I received ANOTHER cancellation email, this time from "Alex" and this time the reason was: "due to an unforeseen issue with our bank account...we can't pay our photo booth provider, neither can we issue you a refund because the bank has withheld all of our funds." They go on to tell me to contact my bank to dispute the charge which I already did 12 days ago. They ended with a repugnant "Our company has a good track record of successfully completing over 8% of jobs that are scheduled. However, we serve 40 USA markets and have over 6000 customers, so once in awhile something like this happens."

I recently contacted America's Party Company to rent a photo booth from them for my upcoming wedding. I initially spoke with a representative through the chat option on their website. After, she called my cell phone and we discussed the package that I was interested in. I told her that I wanted to sign up for the photo booth and she assured me that I would receive an email with a written contract, pictures of the various booth options they offer, and pictures of their photo print sizes for me to choose from. I paid for the booth in full over the phone and have yet to receive any of the emails promised to me. I contacted the company again two days later to ask for the images and a written contract stating the package I was to receive from them, the representative told me she would send the information right away. I check my email and all I got was a very nondescript receipt that I will attach below. After not receiving the proper information once again, I decided to do some digging on the company and read some of their reviews. Through reviews on Yelp I found that people who have booked services through this company previously had similar experiences. Some of which even had the day of their event come and go with a no show by the America's Party Company. I cannot imagine how I would react if the day of my wedding came and my photographer, videographer, DJ, or photo booth did not show up! After reading the negative reviews, I called the company and told them I wanted to cancel the booth and get a refund on my money. I have since called every day and they are still "processing my cancelation". In addition, I have had other people call on behalf of me, and they have been told the same thing. When asked to speak to a higher up personnel, I have been told that they are a third party company and that they cannot give me any information on a higher up person to speak with. That seems a little unbelievable to me!! Based on the reviews I have read, I am not the first one they have done this to. The company also goes by "America's Service Group" as stated on my receipt.
