I got a mail from this company that my student loan might be forgiven. It looks legit, they had my name, amount that I borrowed, and phone number. and I need to call them in 10 days. I called them, a woman said the Congress is closing all loan forgiveness and this is the last option from Obama area to apply for loan forgiveness. the lady scammer asked few things and asked me to give them my pin number that they sent me to my email. The email was sent from FSA fedLoan email, so I trusted it, and told her the pin number. She probably requested to reset my password and once I got the pin number, she asked me to give it to her. then she said I can login to their website americansupportnetwork.com and login with my email and password: Student1 to see changes to my account. Then I got suspicious and called the FedLoan. the best way yo deal with is to call FedLoan and they will tell you to upload a letter in your account that there should not be any third-party authorization or power of attorney on your account. Other than that, spread the word!

Received this letter in the mail stating that my student loan could be forgiven or reduced if I called the number listed on the page. I contacted the number and spoke to a representative named Frances Lundmark (Student Loan Advisor) (A very friendly & convincing female agent) & her contact info is California number (949) 682-3131 or [email protected]. At first the agent did not want to offer anything because of how little my student loan of $7500 was and said there is probably nothing she could offer from their programs to help forgive or reduce the loan, but she said things like, " Well just to see what we could maybe do for you let me get the SS Code off the letter that was sent to you and we will look up your information. " I then gave her the information she was asking for and she said she found my information in their systems and was able to see all my student loan information from the Federal Loan Bank I was already paying back. She was very convincing and told me to that if I was sign up for an account with the website, that she then emailed to my personal email, it was: https://www.nslds.ed.gov/npas/index.htm. She told me to create an account on the tab: Create an FSA ID, that later will ask for all your personal information including Social Security #. Like an [censored], I created an account and put my personal information into the system. It then came up with a list of all my current student loans that are being repaid and Frances (The Agent) said for me to give her my login info so she could look at the balances herself. Again, like an [censored], I gave her the login info. She looked at the loans and said she would fill out an application to see what my best options are. She then sent me an email with a list of very convincing information about how they will contact the Federal Student Loan Bank I was paying back and they will pay for the rest of the loan off and I then would be reissued a new loan through them that would be $0.00 for 20 years and after 20 years I would be cleared of any debt or loans as long as I did not apply for another student loan in the future. If I had to decided to take this woman's offer for this forgiveness then all I needed to do is pay their Enrollment Fee of Total: $748.00 or 3 month payments of $249.00. I of course hesitated and said I would speak to my wife and then come to a decision and call back to her personal # 1-866-570-3333 ext. 6026 that she gave me. I afterwards looked up this company hoping for the best and come to find out this is a scam! If these people ask for any back account number or credit card information...DO NOT GIVE IT OUT!!!

I hope this helps to locate and get these people for fraud!

I recently had applied for student loan forgiveness and was contacted by American Support Network. I first received a letter in the mail stating that they can help me consolidate my loans and provide a payment reduction. They sent out a formal letter with a SS code and a reference ID number. I called them and provided them the SS Code that is listed in the letter. They explained that they would help me (spoke to a man named Mike Mendoza) and he explained that I would have to download a file from FSA. The only way you can get into that information is by creating an FSA ID. Please do not give them any of your personal data during the phone call. Do not confirm your address, your DOB, or even your SSC. I did not realize it was a scam until they had retrieved my information. I did not recognize the scam until way later. As a result, I had to personally call FSA and FedLoans to let them know that my information can now be at risk. The scamming company is simply looking for you to waive your rights to consolidate your loans and then charge you a servicing fee. If you do not know if things are fake or real I would encourage you to type in the phone number, name of the company, emails, links on google search before you contact them or respond to them to make sure its not a scam. You can also simply search on the google search engine what do student loan forgiveness scammers do and read about some of the ways they use language and current policies to confuse people. AGAIN, please do not provide any of your personal information. If it feels weird listen to that gut feeling. Lesson learned.

This is a student loan forgiveness program for consolidation and payment reduction offer I received in the mail. This is word for word the small print at the bottom of the page...They "offer private, fee-based application services to aid consumers in applying for government offered programs. While such programs may be available for free directly by various government agencies, our services are fee based and focus on application and document preparation. We do not charge fees for access to such programs, only to prepare and counsel application to these programs. Services may be fulfilled by a third party processing agency."
