Just had a call from Net Labs purporting to work "along-side" Medicare and American Health Screening to offer me a free genetic test for heart screening. She wanted my medicare card # and said it was safe because it wasn't the SS# that was used anymore on social security cards. I still refused The caller id just says Firebaugh Ca She said she was calling from Florida.I didn't feel comfortable giving out any further information.

Signed up for a "free" health screening from "American Health Screenings" before realizing this was a medicare scam. I did not lose any money but the business has my medicare card number. I will contact Medicare.gov to report this scam. The phone number that the fake business called me from was (276)325-8267.

The phone number, website, and contact info above are from a Google search on the company name given to me by phone. I do not have the number of the person who called me. Due to the nature of the call, I believe I was scammed by this company or someone purporting to represent this company, into revealing personal health information and my SS # by a very professional, but foreign-sounding gentleman recently. He said he represented "American Health Screening" and offered a "free" DNA test for my genetic pre-disposition for cancer, based on my "family history". It occurs to me now that almost any family has at least one member that has had cancer, or possibly someone that has died of cancer, so this should have been a red flag. However, since two members of my family have died of cancer, this struck a nerve (as I suspect it was intended to). After several minutes discussing my personal family history, the representative asked for my Social Security number, assuring me that the company was in full compliance with HIPA regulations. He told me it was necessary for me to give him the number so Medicare would pay for the cancer screening test they would send me. I finally gave him my number, although I had a queasy feeling about doing so. He told me a "Doctor", their head of something like "Screening Outreach" would be in contact with me and I would receive the test kit in a few days. I have not been contacted by anyone since then and have not received any kit. When I tried to email the company (from their website, www.americanhealthscreening.us), at the e-mail address given - [email protected], the e-mail was rejected as non-existant.
