Said I owed past bill...going to disconnect if I don't pay for new 2020 meter...also said they several notices...had to pay at walmart,krogers,or Safeway with wired money ...Indian accent..what a bunch of BS

mr john aynes stoped at my house ,he told me he worked for ameran Illinois power company ,he asker for a copy of my power bill , he wanted to verify that I was getting a lower rate,i told him I threw my bill papers away after I paid it , he gave me his phone number and told me to call him when I got my next bill ,his telephone number is # 480 286 8074

Was called on my work phone at 8:56 am by someone claiming to be from Ameren Illinois trying to get us to pay a outstanding balance on my business account. I knew for sure I did not have a balance so I assumed this was a scam. I called the number for Ameren on my bill and as I suspected my account was current. I then called back the number which was provided by the original caller which was 1-866-787-4539 ext. 204 and asked for the person who called Josh Parker... mind you with this persons accent I assume this in no way was their real name. their automated answering system had exactly the same message as the real Ameren phone number. I was asked for my account number and I told the man I did not have it. He asked for my phone number to look up the account. I did give this to him. He said my business name which was correct but all he would have had to do was google my phone number to find this information. He said I had an outstanding balance of over $2k, and if I did not pay it my power would be shut off in the next 30 minutes. Mind you today is also Veterans Day and no one is even working in the Ameren customer service department today. I asked him to verify my account number and he refused saying "I though you said you did not have your account number!" I called him out for being a scammer and was told well if this is a scam you will see when we send the truck out. I said have at it because they were not Ameren. Be careful out there folks, these guys are getting better.
