Amazon Support imposter Reports & Reviews (4)

Received a call saying a $579.99 purchase was made on Amazon.com and I should call them if I did not make this purchase. I did not call them back.

A merchandise return snafu prompted me to call Amazon “Customer Service”. A man with a mid-Eastern accent named “Sam Wilson” assured me he could help with this issue, having already done several of the same. Most companies have off-shore service staff, so I wasn’t overly concerned. He said the USPS would come to pick up the package, but, there needed to be a registration number for identification. At first, he said I would need to go to a Walgreens or other store to get a “card”, which was never fully explained because I told him I was going nowhere for someone else’s shipping mistake. He said then we could do the same thing but with my computer. He did mention the remote takeover briefly, then moved on in his directions. To get a registration number all I needed to do was BUY MYSELF AN AMAZON GIFT CARD and give the code number to a worker (who turned out to be “Sam, the same guy!) at USPS. I was already apprehensive, but, when he told me to make it for $100 rather than the $25 I’d suggested, I balked and told him this was a scam. He was adamant on the amount while reassuring me the money would be refunded. So, I texted a picture of the gift card AND it’s numbers to: 808-201-8722, the “USPS”. SO STUPID! Meanwhile, “Sam” was getting happier as the confirmation and gift card appeared in my email. Since he’d landed his fish, he even generously gave me his return phone number (800-526-8604), for just in case, and told me he would call in two days at 10:00 am to confirm the pickup.
About an hour after the call ended I received a text from the “USPS” just saying, “hey are u there?.” It didn’t sound very professional because it WASN’T. I replied by asking what was up. No answer.
The next day I tried “his” number, it just rings busy. So, I called the “postal service” number and it was answered just “hello”. Mentioning the PO, the man (who is Sam, but, is now wearing a postman’s hat!) corrected himself, stammering. I asked where he was located- I’d already found that out on my own, the listing said Zakariah McCants-he answered that I was calling a facility in Honolulu, Hawaii! Facetiously remarking how strange that a call regarding a package in the southeast would get routed out to Hawaii he said they had facilities throughout the country. I reiterated it was strange, totally disbelieving him. He said he’d call at 10:00 next day... yeahhh, right!
Ending the call, I took a second look at the gift card transaction and attempted to credit my Amazon account, it said “GIFT CARD ALREADY REDEEMED”. As I knew it would be!
I called the credit card company and there is nothing they can do because of it being CA$H. No recourse. I’ve filed a police report and was given a website where Internet crimes can be reported, write it down!

I googled "report amazon package stolen" dialed the first number that came up on the search page (listed). The phone rang and I was on hold for a brief moment before someone answered saying "Amazon Customer Support. He pretended to help me with my issue, asking me my name and verifying my email address. I became suspicious when he asked me to download a program called "showmypc.com"

I asked his name and wrote down the name he gave "Brian Watson" and the time I placed the call, 6:08 P.M. CST. He gained remote access to my computer screen through this program. When he opened my Amazon account and pulled down the tab I already have access to on my customer interface, I knew it was a scam. I asked him to transfer me to a supervisor or another agent, and when he refused, I manually turned off my computer.

He remained on the line. I asked him again to transfer me and he hung up. I called the number again, hoping to speak with someone else or someone in charge and received the same person, giving a different name. Additionally, he returned my second call from a different number (1-800-526-8604), saying "Hello, someone just called me from this number."

The numbers was show on google.com after I google Amazon Seller Account Customer Support . After call and the guy name David Miller asked me to download a app and let him to remote my laptop, the he let me type my credit card all info after that he use my credit card to buy e-gift card via https://www.retailmenot.com.https://www.retailmenot.com was declined his order then he remote to log in my amazon account to buy the other e-gift card again.

After I got the correct Amazon customer service # to verify the phone # 855-783-9333 is not Amazon customer service #.
