I was given an Omni fire TV at my company picnic. To set up I had to sign into my Amazon account for a code on the tv at Amazon.com/code but as soon as I did it said my account was temporarily locked and to call that number so a man there said my Amazon had been hacked and he walked me through the process of confirming my cc information, he wanted all information on my card, I should have known at that point, he told me I needed to buy $100 gift card, he put me on hold for few minutes than came back and had me repeat another $100 gift card, He said he needed the second card because they had the hacker identity at that point. I began to get very suspicious but he had got my tv to confirm my code to go on and he kept reassuring me, then he had me download anydesk from my App Store. Then he told me to sign into my bank account, at first I said no. It took a few minutes for him to convince me so I did but then I signed out quickly when he told me to go back to anydesk with my bank open! He was a foreign man with heavy accent and I could hear another man speaking foreign language to him in back ground at that point. I told him a few choice words and that I did not trust him then hung up on him and called Amazon. They were able to stop the second $100 gift card but I’ll have to wait to see if they take off first $100 charge because that one had time to process. Amazon will never ask for your entire card information or to go into your bank account with them! I called my bank and had to cancel my card and order replacement! I’ve never had a scammer and feel stupid for falling for it but I also realize how vulnerable I was and how convincing he was due to my tv situation! I’m just so glad it stopped before too much damage to my finances! BEWARE!
