I saw a listing of rough cut lumber and wrote Alton. We discussed the lumber I needed and agreed on a price. He wanted a deposit of 2,000. I sent the deposit through my bank. I was promised the wood by the following month. The next month came around and he kept asking for more money and said because of the rain he wasn’t able to get all of the lumber but would have half by July. In July I met him at his so called business partners place. Alton said I needed to give him 400 cash and his partner the other 600. I didn’t realize at that time that he was not partners with this other man named bill. I got a receipt from both men separately and Alton promised the rest of the wood but it was in a different location. We got ready to leave bills place and Alton left without giving me the address of the rest of the wood. I text him and he said I can get the rest in august when he had the rest of the lumber. That’s when I went to the police station. They sent me to the sheriff. The sheriff looked him up and he has scammed many people and there are many civil suits on Alton since 1995. The sheriff said to file a civil suit on him after august 9th, 2021 because that is when he has promised me the rest of the lumber. The sheriff said not to expect the lumber or the $3000 dollars I paid him already.
