Cablevision/Optimum in New Jersey has been making people cable boxes have errors lately so that they have to send a technician out to replace them since majority of the stores are closed due to the pandemic. They tell you they will send a technician out to your home when they're in your area to replace the boxes, and do not tell you about a charge. They charge random fees for "One-time installation charge" of $59-$89. I called to complain and the representative stated that the charge was in fact wrong but that she was unable to resolve it on her end. She said she would put a note in the system for it to be removed and never did. I had to pay the charge to avoid my service being shut off. I thought it was just me until 2 more people from my local towns page said the same thing! I am baffled that this company thinks they're so slick since they are a monopoly around my town and no other options for cable or wifi that they are taking such bad advantage of their customers.
