I know better than to fall for these phone scams except that this time the phone call started out by reassuring me that they can not ask for any account details over the phone and this phone call is being recorded, and that there is an ongoing investigation into identity theft of me through the Social Security Administration and the DEA and that accounts are being opened in my name in New York & Texas.

The investigator Allen Carter gave me a social security investigation case number: DC10592J and this specific phone call investigation number is LK1549 which is referenced by the DEA Drug Law Enforcement agency. He asked about travel history to New York and Texas, and where I keep my checking & savings but not any specific account numbers. After keeping me on the line awhile asking general questions and assuring me that they couldn't obtain specific account information he asked for just the last 4 digits of my social security and that I would be receiving a phone call shortly from the Texas DEA for more specific questions. I did receive several calls from 1-281-784-0657, a Texas Number. I did try to call back this number but didn't get a response.
