Alaska State Patrol Reports & Reviews (1)

- Anchorage, AK, USA

I returned home on July 5 to an urgent home phone message from the Lt Steven Arlow of the AK State Troopers Office. I returned the call early July 6 (907-290-3015 a very official sounding court system-like answering machine message to direct my call to him by extension 3). Steve Arlow said he was notifying me of two citations that had been issued to me and that a warrant for my arrest for not appearing for grand jury duty on June 30 was pending. I had called the jury duty line and was told I wasn’t needed that week. He said there must have been an error with the automated system. He gave me citation id numbers for 1) failure to appear for grand jury 2) contempt of court. He said they each held a fine of $1125, so a total of $2250. He threw out the judge's name. He said I needed to bring proof down to prove my innocence. Before I did that, I needed to pay the fines which would be reimbursed once the judge cleared the charges.

A total scam. Thank gawd I figured it out before giving up $2250. I did lose $250. They were sooooo good. They Have an answering system that sound like court system. They knew my court dates and when I was supposed to call. I believe he knew which dates I was excused for duty. He knew the jury clerk's name and a few other clerks names that he threw out. He kept me on the phone the entire time in case I got pulled over on my way to police station -he wanted to keep me safe. Had me buy $2250 worth of moneypak cards from office max for bonding process at the police station. It was either that or use a bail bondsman. Cash would not be accepted for the fine only this cash card that would be reimbursed once I was cleared. Once I got the cards then I was to head to police station on Tudor asap to get everything cleared up. Thank goodness the max you can put on a card is $500. So I bought 4-$500 and 1-$250 cards. Office Max even tried to warn me that people were scamming people out of their card codes. “Steve Arlow” was distracting me on the phone while the office max person was trying to warn me (very interesting looking back on it). After getting money cards at office max, I was back in the car and he wanted to validate insurance numbers to make sure cards were loaded so i wouldn't have to make another trip back to office max. I got suspicious at this point (looking back, I should have been suspicious way before this). I actually told him I was risking that he could scam me out of my money. I told him I would take the gamble that he was legit and I only gave him the $250 “insurance code” and said the rest would be fine if that card was loaded- I wouldn't give him the rest till I got there. He acted like I hurt his feelings and that he had spent all morning trying to clear things up for me. I drove to the police station. Once at there he told me that he was upstairs and that I had to go to kiosk and pay the fine then ask for him and he would come down. I told him to come down now. He kept making stuff up BUT he wouldn’t let it go – he told me if the cards weren't loaded/activated I could be detained and wouldn't be able to go back and get them activated. At that point, I called total bs on him and went inside the station. he stayed on the phone as i was speaking with police. POLICE DID NOTHING-said they had his number-still active. he even called me back and left a message, maybe to give me my money back if i gave him my back account info, don't know. FEDERAL JURY INFORMATION is at risk. please help catch this creep.
