I’m reporting a rental scam that resulted in a loss of $3,750, which I sent via Interac e-Transfer to [email protected]. The scammer posed as a landlord and convinced me to pay for an apartment rental. They provided a seemingly legitimate rental agreement and claimed the apartment keys would be sent by courier after payment. After sending the money, I received no keys and all communication ceased.

This was a fraudulent scheme, and I urge others to be cautious of this email address and any similar scams. I have reported the incident to my bank and local authorities and request that this scammer be flagged to prevent others from being defrauded.

This is rental scam, and I have transferred money based on a fake add shown on Facebook marketplace. The person sent a rental agreement via email and I had to send my ID. He said currently he is in US for his fathers funeral, and the keys for the apartment are with him. He could sent me the apartment keys via a 48hr air transit if I pay the deposit and first month rent. I did the transfer to make this process very quick as I was in a situation to get this place and move out of my current. Anyways seems like I ended up being scammed.

Renting Location - 6035 Falaise Rd, Duncan, BC, V9L 2H5

I was desperately searching for a place to rent in Duncan, BC, as I was in the process of making a big move to a new province, which is when I came across an ad for an apartment for rent on Facebook marketplace. The scammer required a security deposit of $650 and first month's rent of $1050, like most landlords do, and he said he would send the keys to the place through a shipping company from Ohio, as he was with his family there where they work as volunteers for the Missionary. When I found out it was a scam and confronted him about it, he denied, yet kept messaging me to keep in touch with me throughout the next two days.

The same happened to me. I lost $4,290. All the money was sent by e-transfer in several times. Each email address was different. I paid three months' rent in advance and the deposit. He sent me his ID, and told me he was in Ohio and his wife was in a hospital so he had no money though he owned a condo. One day he tried to make me buy some bit coins through ATM. He gave me lots of text messages all day to keep in touch with me. The shipping fee for the package was $2,200, but I didn't pay for it. I keep our conversation in email and my cell.

I responded to an ad for an apartment for rent. Suspect required 1st month's rent $1251/month, then used the airwaycart.com shipping website to indicate the package had been shipped. Next day "package" was held at customs for a fee.
