I filed a lost bag claim at the AirportRecovery.com website after being told by police. I immediately received an offer to look for my bag for $113. I retrieved the bag 2 hours later at lost & found. They told me the service is a scam.

I was in a hurry to fill out a lost luggage claim at American Airlines Dallas Fort Worth. Google put this site as the top choice. Unfortunately, I was frazzled and filled out the information. Then the site said it would take 10 days for the search to start, but it would begin immediately for a fee of $57. Stupidly I paid it. After I paid it, small print came up saying that this place was not affiliated with American Airlines. It also asked for an additional $57 to be appointed a personal concierge to look for my luggage. The website said a refund is available within 24 hours. But there’s no way to request it. Complete scam I’ve complained to the bank. These people should not be in Business. They are just stealing money for nothing.

I lost an item at an airport recently while I was traveling. I searched up Miami airport lost and found recovery, and found the Airport Recovery website. It was the first to pop up, and is even sponsored by Google when you search. When I went on they had me put all my information about the item I lost and then pay 69.00 to find it. This seemed weird to me, but I was so desperate and frazzled in the moment that I just did it. Immediately after I knew that something must be wrong and I went to the actual airport website where they say this "Please be aware that Lost and Found DOES NOT charge a service fee to file a lost property report or for assistance in searching for lost property. Additionally, Lost and Found is not affiliated with any company or website that charges a fee to search for lost property." So I knew immediately that I had been scammed. I went back to the website and found at the bottom that there is a 24-hour no questions asked full refund. After a few calls they finally answered, and I said I wanted to get a refund. The man said it would come back in 5-7 business days. Now, they are emailing me and saying this

"Thank you for reaching out to us regarding your refund request. We value your satisfaction and aim to resolve any issues as quickly and fairly as possible.

When you filed your claim, our dedicated agent promptly initiated an investigation into the loss of your item. This included prioritizing your claim and establishing your rightful ownership with all relevant parties. The objective was to ensure that if your item were to be located, all relevant personnel would promptly contact you via phone or email to provide instructions for retrieval. Our service not only relieved the stress of the situation but also provided a strategic advantage to your claim, setting the stage for a positive resolution. Regardless of the outcome, our goal was to facilitate the successful retrieval of your lost item.

Considering a fair resolution for the time invested in conducting the investigation (see attachment), we would like to offer a partial refund of $43considering a service fee of $26. As soon as you confirm the partial refund, it will be forwarded to our Accounting Department for processing and you can expect the refunded amount to be credited back to your original payment method within 5-7 business days.

We appreciate your consideration of this resolution and we look forward to your response."

I know this is not legit considering the typo in it. I have looked it up on the internet and many other people have experienced the same thing where they expect to get their full refund, but then it is flipped back on them at the last moment.
