I had a representative from First American Insurance out to look at a heater. The next day a company called to say they were offering vent cleaning as a result of a follow-up from the meeting*. Representative's name was Julie and said she was with "Air Quality Specialists". I asked if they were the follow up call from First American and she said yes. They set an appointment to clean air vents and inspect attic space. I warned them that they would need a ladder.

The next day a young man with a Eastern European accent arrived with a particle mask and ladder (the ladder looked a bit beat-up which gave me pause.). As I usually do with anyone business person who intends to enter my home, I asked for identification. He said it was in his truck and he would be right back. He left with the ladder and never came back.

Granted, nothing wrong was done, but that behavior is highly suspicious.

*The day after the call, my wife received a call from another business who claimed they were following up on the First American call without having to be prompted. I believe they are the legitimate follow-up company. We will see if they turn and run too.
