Received a text message stating "This is Ava from ASR. You were preapproved for student loan forgiveness, are you still interested? Please call to finalize @ 855-500-9007. Reply STOP to opt out". Called the number and it is obviously a scam because I never contacted anyone about student loans and they didn't even know my name.

There is an ad that is posted on Facebook regarding an article that was regarding University of Phoenix being under federal investigation for fraud and misleading students. The article was published by Aiding Student Relief and said if you were a past student (which I am) to call and see if you're eligible for debt relief. I did and the case manager who answered my call, Rafael Brango, took me through a series of questions, took my SSN and DOB and told me that I was eligible for "The Graduates Program" and that my payments would be reduced from $291 to $170 for 240 months - everything sounded good until he said we can contact the lenders, process all the paperwork, etc....for a processing fee of $499. I was taken back and declined but after he asked for the $499 just seemed like a scam. I went to the www.aidingstudents.com website and it seemed legit but I'm having second thoughts now.
