Advology LLC Reports & Reviews (1)

My husband called this company, to which he had paid $300 on Feb. 25, 2016, for tech support regarding connecting a computer to a printer. Gentleman named "Melvin" explained that he did not need to use a cord to connect. My husband then asked if the "service" covered all the computers in the house. Melvin said yes. We gave third person access to both our computers and were told that some people were trying to hack into our computers. A screen came up with a picture of a man with a Russian name, and we were told that this person had already hacked into our network firewall and Melvin would immediately block him so that we would be safe. Melvin said that he could permanently protect our present computers, kindles, cell phones, laptops, chromebooks, etc. from any future hacking into our network for $800.00. Then later he said it would cost $1000.00 for the support and time took to do this. He instructed us to go to two local stores, Walmart and Dollar Store, to buy 10 itunes cards for $100. each. He warned us that sometimes the stores would try to manipulate the customer to not getting the cards, so we should tell them the cards were for gifts for friends or relatives and not to try to buy more than 5 at each store. He wanted to keep in cell phone contact with my husband in case he needed to instruct him while he bought the cards. My husband left, and I stayed at the computers, having a pleasant conversation with Melvin. My husband does not carry his cell phone, so we just waited for an hour. When my husband returned, we were instructed to rub the numbers off the cards, and put them on our printer/scanner so Melvin could remotely access them. My husband had only bought 8 cards in order not to run our checking account too low. Melvin said that would be OK, we could pay him the rest tomorrow. Meanwhile, Melvin said he was downloading the needed software to protect our firewall, and also that we should not make any online purchases or do any online banking until the next day. After second thoughts, I phoned the number and asked the name of the company. Someone answered and gave me a name which I did not understand and could not find on the internet. Then a man named Daemon called my number and said that they had received a call from our number. I said yes, I was trying to find out the name of the company, that I believed they had scammed us, etc. I was given the name Advology, which I looked up and was on the internet. Daemon assured me that the reason they required itunes cards for payment was for our own protection and security. I don;t believe him. The men both had Indian accents, and in conversation with Melvin, he said his company was based in California, but that he was speaking to me from New Delhi, India. Now I am afraid that they have either downloaded malware, or have access to our computers and our personal information.
