My parents who are in their 80's purchased a brand new water softener 3 1/2 years ago. Last week the same sales person came into their garage where my father was working on his trains. Lorin was not wearing a mask to prevent Covid-19 and invited himself into my parents house. He told them their is a new technology water softener with silver isotopes to clean their water even better. My mother said "NO they are happy with their one they bought for $3000 over 3 years ago. Lorin kept talking and talking and my mother was sick with severe shingles and my father was too old to understand what he was saying, so my mother gave up and had Lorin install this new high-tech water softner and charged them $4500! He said it normally costs $7900 but he gave them $3000 off because of the new one they paid 3 years ago. $4500 is ridiculous! My parents are old, on a fixed income, several health issues! He had 2 of his guys come and replace the other softener then they walked through their house because my parents house is like a museum. None of them had face masks or gloves and my mother was too sick to say anything and my dad too excited to show off his house. When my mother told me this I was furious. Lorin took advantage of my parents and wasn't concerned about their safety or health issues! I called him and told him he needs to take out the new one and put the old one back and that my mother specifically told him NO and he just kept on talking and wore her out. He refused to switch it out and complained that no one has ever done that before. He did agree to give my parents back $750.00 but they didn't need or want this other one. He should remove it and replace the other one back. I read to him the 3 day change your mind rule from the FTC but he didn't care about that. I'm concerned now if he does switch out the softener's he may do something bad again. I feel he is a scammer and took complete advantage of my low-income elderly parents and abused their vulnerability!
