ADT Reports & Reviews (12)

They called and said they wanted me to call them back to confirm my appointment for tomorrow afternoon and that I should have $49.07 ready to pay them when they arrive. When I call I must confirm my address also! I’ve NEVER talked to ADT at all!!! I already have a home security system, which I’ve had for years and they are NOT affiliated with ADT AT ALL IN ANY WAY!!!

A man showed up at our door half to 9 claiming to be an ADT agent. He listed some facts about home security and said ADT could cover. He asked if we were interested and we said not at the moment. Then he asked if we had home security, my partner stupidly said no...then he offered to conduct a free home evaluation if he could come in. Then I budged in and said it's almost 9, no. He said okay and handed my husband a pamphlet about ADT home protection with a number to call. We couldn't tell if he had a ADT uniform nor did he drive a company car. Did not show an ID Or a business card...

Two workers came claiming to be ADT and tried to scare her into buying things.

Two men came to the door claiming to be from ADT corporate to complete our home security paperwork as part of our closing of escrow. We knew that there was no home security built into the purchase of our home. However he still tried to claim that he was part of ADT even though we have been in direct contact with the the real ADT and already scheduled service. They were not wearing ADT clothing and would not provide me with any documentation. I asked for a business card and what he provided (attached) shows that he is not with ADT but in-fact a reseller making false claims. After I denied his request for service he became very upset and said he will just send us a bill. I guess he will send me a bill for wasting my time at almost 7PM at night? Very unprofessional and even if this company is legitimate they are scamming people into signing contracts by falsely identifying themselves.

The scammers name is Sean came to home and telling me that my Adt company got bought out. He was trying to get information about my monthly fees (I had an Adt sign in my yard but taking it now).

He didn’t have a business card or ID to show me he was from Adt. He said he would send me all his information via text which he never did. He finally left so I got in my car and found him a block away at a neighbors house. He recognized me and went beserk and then tried unsuccessfully to ram my car. I did call my local police in Sulphur and did a report.

The scammer showed up at our home at 8:30 pm. No lights were on, which from the outside would appear like there was no one home. We saw a car in our driveway with no one in it. When we went to look out the window, there was a man standing at our front door with an iPhone searching for something and he hadn't rung the doorbell. My husband opened the door and asked what he was doing. The man then claimed he was with ADT. His only identification was a sticker on his clipboard. There was no ID card, business markings on the car he drove, etc. He said that the title company should have told us he was coming and acted surprised when we said they hadn't. We was trying to sell the service and when we declined and asked him to leave, he mentioned we were turning away free stuff and $500.

When I came home, two card were left on my door. I contacted ADT to verify that the person on the card was working with them and they had no record of the name or information on business card. ADT also stated no one ever comes to the door.

They installed a partial security system in my elderly mother's home. Then they created a contract which she never saw or agreed to which locked her into 320.00 a month for multiple years. They continue to harass her and family daily with phone calls and refuse to cancel her security system service although it's not functioning not is it what she asked for.

We just cancelled ADT services. The caller said he was Cliff from local ADT. He asked if this was the phone number that was called, I said, "Yes," and I heard some clicking noise like maybe a recording. This concerned me, so I'm unsure what he said after, but then he hung up.

I am concerned this is a version of the "can you hear me now" scam since the demeanor of the individual was unlike a professional representative.

- Saint Louis, MO, USA

Representative knocked on door and stated they were selling security systems and were a relocation manager. Stated they were sent by home insurance company/building inspector. Wanted access to home. Did not purchase anything. Called the security company who could not deny or verify the representative or business practice.

On October 11, 2016 at 5:45 p.m. I received a phone message stating "This is James with ADT. We need you to call back as soon as possible." Approximately 10 minutes later I returned the call and James answered. I told him I was returning his call and ask what the problem was. James asked me if my ADT security system was activated. I told him "yes". He went on to say that they just needed to be sure it was for my current address, not the previous one. I told him this was the only address that I had ever had ADT. "Well, okay then. If you have any questions or problems or need anything, I (James) am your local ADT representative and you should call me direct at this number (423-710-4024)." That was the extent of our conversation. I immediately called ADT at their "800" number and described the conversation with James. The ADT representative looked at my account and stated that no phone calls had been made on their part and further, no one from ADT would call to see if your service was activiated. "We always know if your service is active or not based on your account. There would be no reason for ADT to make that type of inquiry." She went on to say that any ADT representative should always give you their ADT ID#. At the end of our conversation she suggested that I notify the Police. I did notify the Police and they also suggested that I notify the ScamPulse.com and the FTC. I have notified all sources. It appears "James" and others are trying to determine who does and doesn't have a working security system in their home for criminal activity.

Signed up with ADT. Ever since I signed up for it, never receive any payment in mail. Also when I realize the ADT Pulse service never worked. Call to cancel, they told me I can't cancel because the 2 year agreement. So am I supposed to continue paying you even though you don't provide the services? What century do we live in now. I was foolish enough to even consider and paid for a year. Definitely think this company is out there to get peoples money. NO SERVICE at all... awful awful. I believe when service is not provided, customer should have the rights to cancel.
